The Lost Hero is the first novel in the 'Heroes of Olympus' pentalogy series, by Rick Riordan. The Lost Hero continues the adventures of the demigods (half-gods), in completing the missions given by the gods. The novel begins with an amnesiac Jason Grace. Suddenly, he wakes up on a school bus with two people who consider him friends, Leo Valdez and Piper McLean. The weirdness continues when they start being attacked by several ventus (storm spirits) in the Grand Canyon. Jason started the fight by issuing a coin that can turn into a sword. Then, their school bus companion, coach Hedge, suddenly appears as a satyr (half goat man) to protect the three teenagers. The attack resulted in Hedge's trainer being kidnapped by Ventus to an unknown location. Amid the confusion and loss of Hedge's trainer, a chariot of war horses lands. There are two teenagers standing in the chariot, Annabeth Chase and Butch. Annabeth and Butch then took them to Camp Half-Blood—a place where all half-bloods were safe. Their pick-up from the Grand Canyon was no accident. Annabeth Chase initially received directions from Dewi Hera to pick up someone she thought was Percy Jackson. Percy Jackson is said to have disappeared from Camp Half-Blood. At the camp, the demigods are also troubled by the 'rise' of the motherland, Gaea, who wants to rule the world; and predictions about the destiny of the seven demigods. These events, as well as the arrival of three new demigods, add to the trouble and mystery that unfolds at Camp Half-Blood.
